Team Neutelings Riedijk Architects – Steenmeijer – SWECO selected to design Smaakhaven

We are proud to announce that the team Neutelings Riedijk Architects – Steenmeijer architects – SWECO has been selected for the next phase of the prestigious project Smaakhaven! This project, located in the historic ‘Loodswezen’ and ‘Boeienloods’ building on the Antwerp river Schelde quays, aims to bring together Flanders’ culinary tradition and innovation in a unique way and share it with the world. Flemish Culinary Center, the Smaakhaven.

Tourism Flanders, AG Vespa and Stad Antwerpen are working together to realize a program that contributes to the development of a future-proof culinary center. The Smaakhaven will become the home of gastronomic Flanders for the promotion and support of our food culture.

Our team is excited to be challenged to work on this mix of restoration, renovation and repurposing of the ‘Loodswezen’ and the ‘Boeienloods’ building.

Earlier this year, multidisciplinary design teams had the chance to apply at the Antwerp city development company AG Vespa for the complete study and design assignment for the realization of the Smaakhaven. A competition will determine which of the three selected teams will make the final design for Smaakhaven.

Smaakhaven will become the place where visitors and professionals from home and abroad can discover unique flavors, innovative ideas and sustainable products from all over Flanders.
