Fassa Bortolo International Prize for Sustainable Architecture
In Italy, our large-scale timber transformation of the former freight station Gare Maritime, has received an Honourable Mention from the University of Ferrara and Fassa Bortolo, for the XVI Edition of the Fassa Bortolo International Prize for Sustainable Architecture – build projects division. The project remains a benchmark for adaptive reuse, combining heritage preservation with innovative sustainable design. The Awards Ceremony will take place in the afternoon of October 15, 2025, in the prestigious setting of Palazzo Tassoni Estense, headquarters of the Department of Architecture at the University of Ferrara.
Also in Barcelona, the European AHI Award of Architectural Heritage Intervention, recognised Gare Maritime as an important urban transformation and for its special attention to the values of the New European Bauhaus: beauty, sustainability, inclusion and a trans disciplinary, participatory and experimental mythological approach. According to the jury, Gare Maritime stood out for the coherent integration of environmental sustainability strategies en a large-scale intervention.
